Replace a damaged review QR without confusion

Worn cards and faded print can make an otherwise healthy campaign seem broken. Replace the physical material carefully so the business does not accidentally change the destination or leave several conflicting signs in place.

A practical workflow

  1. Check the original link

Confirm the active campaign and location before reprinting. Use the saved export rather than rebuilding the destination from memory.

  2. Remove confusing copies

Take down the damaged card once the replacement is ready. Check nearby surfaces for older cards with different instructions.

  3. Test in place

Scan the new card after it is installed. Compare the customer page and Google destination with the approved setup.

Avoid this mistake

Avoid creating a new campaign simply because the paper is damaged unless a separate campaign is actually needed.

What to check

Check scan reliability at the physical stand before judging changes in customer activity.

Test the whole physical journey

Check both the printed code and the page behind it. A successful scan is only the entry point: the customer still needs to recognise the business, describe an experience and understand the Google handoff. Use the final material under ordinary lighting. Keep a copy of the approved artwork so a replacement does not accidentally introduce a different destination.

Preserve a QR code’s clear margin →

The empty area around a QR helps a camera distinguish the code from its surroundings. Logos, captions and decorative borders should not crowd that space,.
