Prepare SMTP settings for review request emails

Email requests need a working sender configuration before owners can deliver approved messages. SMTP setup should be treated as an administrator task, with credentials kept out of public pages and ordinary support enquiries.

A practical workflow

  1. Use the provider’s details

Collect the correct host, supported port, security mode and sender identity from the email service. Do not guess settings.

  2. Save securely

Enter credentials in the administrator service screen. Review the sender address and name before enabling email requests.

  3. Test deliberately

Use the available test only when an authorised recipient and purpose are clear. A saved configuration alone does not prove inbox delivery.

Avoid this mistake

Do not promise delivery or send real customer requests simply to test whether configuration exists.

What to check

Check provider acceptance and the intended test recipient’s inbox before enabling routine sending.

Verify the actual setup

A feature can be present in the interface while still needing service configuration. Check the relevant connection, allowance and approval state before telling the team it is ready. Keep credentials in authorised administrator settings and private backups. Use sample data for routine checks and avoid sending real requests, publishing replies or making payments simply to prove a screen loads.
