REVIEW REQUESTS

Avoid incentives in Google review requests

A discount or free gift can change how a review invitation is understood. Google’s review rules prohibit incentivised engagement, so keep customer rewards and public feedback requests separate in both wording and practice.

A practical workflow

  1. Remove the exchange

Do not offer a benefit for posting, changing or deleting a review. A reward tied to any review can still undermine an honest invitation.

  2. Check staff scripts

Make sure verbal requests follow the same rule as printed cards. An otherwise neutral poster does not correct an incentive offered at checkout.

  3. Resolve issues independently

Provide refunds, corrections and support through the normal process. Never make help depend on the customer’s public rating.

Avoid this mistake

Avoid replacing five-star discount with review discount and assuming the issue is solved.

What to check

Check messages, posters and staff conversations for any connection between rewards and public reviews.

Keep the invitation genuine

Google’s rules prohibit fake and incentivised engagement. Use a consistent invitation for real customer experiences, including critical ones. Keep support, refunds and service access independent of public feedback. reviewbuddy.in supports manual WhatsApp Web sharing; email requests require SMTP setup and explicit approval. A sent invitation does not prove that a customer has posted.
